The Senior Center/Whitney Commons Parking Lot is an ideal place to explore much of Sheridan’s Historic District. To get to the parking lot from the Sheridan Inn: Continue west on 5th to Main Street. Turn left (south) on Main Street … turn right (west) on Dow Street, go one block then left on Brooks, go two blocks then right on Smith Street. Pull into the large parking lot to your right and park near the Whitney Commons: fountains, mandala garden, historic cabin, restrooms. Kids love running through a fountain that spurts up through ground level openings. Parking lot can accommodate most RVs.

Follow the path from Whitney restrooms going west several blocks to Kendrick Park: picnic area, playground, band shell, elk & bison pasture, ice cream. A paved path just south of the ice cream stand in Kendrick Park takes you up a hill to the historic Trail End Mansion & Carriage House Theatre, a beautifully preserved look at life for the more privileged in old west Wyoming. http://www.trailend.co/

IF YOU PREFER TO DRIVE TO KENDRICK OR TRAIL END: You can drive to Kendrick Park by taking Main Street south and turning west on Loucks Street. Look for the Kendrick Park entrance on your right. To drive to the Trail End turn west off Main St onto Dow/1st St. which become Lewis; turn left/south onto Clarendon which will take you directly to the mansion. Kendrick Park and Trail End have limited parking not suitable for most RVs but there is street parking not far from both.

Return to Whitney Commons. Walking east on the Smith Street sidewalk will take you directly to Sheridan’s Historic Main Street District. While you stroll up and down Main Street, look for signs on the historic buildings which have QR codes for cell phone access to information about each coded building. There are additional restaurants, breweries, and shops on most of the side streets off Main Street. Remember that many shops are only open 9-5:30, Monday thru Saturday.
